Interactions between life and planets in the past

The evolution of grasses

The interactions of organisms with each other often have effects on the physical environment, but despite the effects on the physical environment these interactions are not thought to affect depositional processes. I am interested in how changes caused in the physical environment by organisms alter depositional signals. Better understanding these processes will lead to better paleoecological insights and better paleotemperature reconstructions. I am currently investigating how the evolution of C4 photosynthesis by grasses affects estimates of paleotemperature.
